2008 was a very special year for China. In the beginning of the year, Southern China was covered in snow. That area has never snowed before so they didn't have any preparation. The communication were all disable because of the freezing cable. The cold weather plus the short of food and other resource let the local people lose all the hopes. The local government sent the army to help the people in these areas, they transport food and water to the local resident also unfreeze and repair the cable wire.

In the beginning of April, the Torch Relay of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games began. This should be a great moment of Chinese history but it was ruined by the Tibetan independent people, many Tibetan thought that Tibet was a independent country but they were wrong, Tibet was Chinese territory long times ago and keeps a good relationship with the inland. At the same time, western media like CNN and BBC were start to affronted China in many untrue ways such as posting edited pictures and lying on the broadcast. These facts let the Chinese people around the world got really frustrated. Chinese people started to stand up and tell the truth, a large amount of Chinese were gone on strike and protest the Tibetan. Finally, the Chinese "power" around the world has let the western media apologize to China.

On May 12th. There was a level 7.9 earthquake occurred in Sichuan Province. The Chinese Official statistics nearly 100,000 of people were died or missing, over 370,000 of people were injured. It is the most damaging earthquake since the 1976 Tangshan disaster. The earthquake's after shock is very huge that Beijing and Shanghai can even felt it. Chinese Government spend billions of dollars on the rescue operation and over 10 thousand of army plus hundred of nurse, doctor and geologist. Chinese President Hu Jintao and Chinese Primer Minister Wen Jiabao also went to the earthquake areas to command the rescue operation.

On August 8th. It's the day that all the Chinese people been waiting for; Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games was successfully opened in the National Stadium in Beijing. During the game every countries athletes were doing their best to achieve their goal and make reputation for their nation. In the end, China won 51 golden medals and United State won 39.

Right after the Olympic Games, Chinese Department of Food Safety found out that the milk powder that was made by San Lu Dairy Corporation contains melamine. Many baby were sick and very few were died, this happened even out side of China. Many countries stopped importing any mile product from China. As the solution, Chinese Department of Food Safety blocked and stop San Lu to produce any more milk products. All the hospital around China were free for the baby.

On September 25th, 2008. China launched the Shenzhou 7 spacecraft to the space. It carried 3 astronauts and two of them were going to do the space walk. This is the first time that the Chinese astronaut got out of the spacecraft and does their duties. As the time Chinese astronaut Zhai Zhigang walk out of the spacecraft and shaking the Chinese flag to the whole world, that movement is marked into the history and started the basic step of investigate China's space station.

These are the brief conclusion of China during 2008. Wish China will continue it's glory and improve it's economy in the next few years!
