2010 World Exposition is being held on the both shore of Huangpu River in Shanghai, China during May 1st to October 31st. The theme of this expo is called "Better City, Better Life" which shows the Shanghai's status in the next generation of "World City". The logo of Shanghai Expo features the Chinese Character "世" (Means the world) which modified to represent three people as a family with 2010 in the bottom. It is the most expensive World Expo as well as it contains the world largest expo site at 5.28 square km. Haibao is the mascot of Shanghai Expo, it means the treasure of the ocean and it's also based on a Chinese character "人" (People).

After Shanghai won the bid to host the 2010 Expo in 2002. The city started to reshape it's river shoreline. The Expo site was set in between the Nanpu Bridge and Lupu Bridge along the the Huangpu River and this involved moving of 270 factories, including the Jiang Nan Shipyard (Restore to China Ship Pavilion). The Expo Park in Puxi (West of Huangpu River) consist of cooperate, organization and city pavilions. The area in Pudong mainly consist of national/regional pavilions and it's divided into Asia, Africa, American (North and South), Europe and Oceania (Pacific) sections.

2010 Yushu Earthquake

Yushu Earthquake occurred in the southern part of China's Qinghai Province on April 14 with the registered magnitude of 6.9M. According to the Chinese Official and Xinhua News Agency, 2,183 people have been confirmed dead, 84 missing, and 12,135 injured of which 1,434 are severely injured. The earthquake happened on the upper town of Yushu County near the border of Tibet Autonomous Region. Many wooden buildings in the area has been heavily damaged, 70% of school in the area were also been destroyed and many students were trapped in there. About 15,000 bungalows were break apart after the Earthquake. Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao flew to the quake area from Beijing to command the rescue operation as well as Chinese President Hu Jintao cut off his visits to Chile and Venezuela and came to Yushu County. The earthquake was preceded by a fore shock and followed by several aftershocks, four above magnitude 5 and at a 4 km (2.5 mi) depth on April 14. Right after the Earthquake occurred, Chinese People's Liberation Army Qinghai Branch has send over 3700 soldiers to Yushu and rescue these people who were trapped inside the ruins, many local monks were also helping the rescues along with the armies. The central government has donate over 10 million Yuan to Qinghai Pronive as well as Hong Kong SAR. Taiwan has also send a rescue team to Qinghai Province. Other nation's Red Cross such as United State has donate over 50 thousand US dollar to Yushu. The Chinese Government has declared April 21 the national day of mourning, same as the 512 of Sichuan Earthquake in 2008. On that day, All governmental places (Include HK and Macao), Tiananmen Square and oversea embassy/consulates were lowering the Chinese flag. All major Chinese website such as Sina and Tencent's interface became black and white and entertainment were shutdown. All bars and cinemas were closed for one day. This Earthquake has cost total financial lost of 679 million Chinese Yuan.

Vancouver 2010 Winter Game was successfully opened on Feb.12.2010. The opening ceremony was hosted in Vancouver's BC Place and was directed by David Atkins, who was also the director of Sydney 2000 Olympic. The event was opened by Governor General Michaelle Jean and dedicated by the Vancouver Organizing Committee to Nobar Kumaritashvili, a Georgian luger who died earlier that day on a training run. An estimated 60,000 people were in attendance with 4,500 perfumers. The cost of this event was the second most expensive Olympic opening ceremony in the world with Beijing at the lead.

Vancouver 2010 Winter Game began on Feb.12.2010 and ends on Feb.28.2010. The Paralympic Game will began on Mar.12.2010 and ends on Mar.21.2010. The game were hold in Vancouver, Richmond and Whistler. There were in total of 15 winter sport event in 2010 Winter Game. The eight sports categorized as ice sports are: bobsled, luge, skeleton, ice hockey, figure skating, speed skating, short track speed skating and curling. The three sports categorized as alpine skiing and snowboarding events are: alpine, freestyle and snowboarding. The four sports categorized as Nordic events are: biathlon, cross country skiing, ski jumping and Nordic combined. There are 82 National Olympic Committee that have entered teams in the 2010 Winter Olympics. The mascot of this Olympic is Miga and Quatchi and Paralympic is Sumi. Slogan of this game was "With Glowing Heart" which was also a line in the Canadian National Anthem "O Canada".
